Duration : Three Years (06 Semesters)
The University is going to offer B.A. (Major) Programmes based on the latest UGC structure of Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). There are a total of 14 (fourteen) Core Courses that a student is required to take across six semesters. All the Core Courses are compulsory. There shall be four Courses of Generic Elective (GE) distributed across first four semesters (one in each semester). In addition to Core and Generic Courses, a student of B.A. (Major) shall choose four Discipline Specific Elective (DSE) Courses, two in each last two semesters. Students are also to offer two Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses (AECC) distributed in first two semesters. Apart from it, a student is to offer two Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC) spread across third and fourth semesters
Courses carrying 4 (four) credits or more shall have 100 marks each, (40 marks for In-Semester and 60 for End-Semester Examination); while courses carrying 3 (three) credits or less shall have 50 marks each; (20 for In-Semester and 30 for End-Semester Examination).
Eligibility for Admission to B.A. (Major) Programmes: A student who passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination of the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council, or any equivalent examination recognised as such by the University shall be eligible for admission to the First Semester of the Six Semester B.A. (Major) programme.
B.P.A. (Bachelor of Performing Arts) : (Modular)
A three year (six semester) Bachelor Programme in Performing Arts on Modular Basis, at three levels– Certificate, Diploma and Degree shall be started w.e.f. the academic session 2018-19. The students enrolled in this programme shall have option to leave the programme after one year and subject to successful completion and passing the examinations he/she shall be awarded a Certificate by the University. Similarly, if a student want to leave the programme after successful completion of the second year and passes the examinations upto Fourth Semester he/she shall be eligible to receive a Diploma from the University. On successful completion and passing out the examinations of the Sixth Semester, he/she shall be awarded B.P.A. degree.
Eligibility for Admission:
(i) Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination passed in any stream conducted by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council, or an equivalent examination, and
(ii) adequate experience in Performing Arts. The candidates for admission shall be selected through an interview.
