The Department of Geography has started its journey on 29th August 2022. The department was established to cater to the needs of the aspiring students of Geography who are interested in higher education and research. The department is striving towards academic excellence as well as improving departmental facilities and teaching aids. The department is actively engaging in fieldwork to develop conceptual, cognitive, procedural and social gains. Within one year of journey the department has got significant repute within the University as well as in the State.

By advancing the frontiers of geographical knowledge, contributing to policy discussions, and engaging with local and global communities. 3. To produce graduates who are not only well-versed in geographic theories and methodologies but also possess a global perspective, ethical awareness, and a commitment to sustainable practices.

Empower students with the knowledge and skills through innovative approaches to learning, interdisciplinary collaboration and application of advance geospatial technology. 3. To address the emerging global concern of climate change, disaster management and environmental planning.

So far, the department has 90 students in post graduate programme (1st and 3rd semester) and 8 PhD research scholars.
Thrust Areas of Research: The department is in the infant stage of research. First batch of Ph. D programme has started during March, 2023. The scholars have started working in the following contemporary issues of geographical research) Water resource management e) Deforestation b) Urban planning and development f) Land use and land cover change c) Agriculture geography (LULC) and d) Rural development g) Tourism geography.
